Lymphoedema

Lymphoedema can be either Primary i.e. you are born with the condition or Secondary i.e. you acquire it as a result of some event.
Primary Lymphoedema may present before age 35 or after age 35 it may visibly affect one limb, most typically the legs, but may be present in other limbs.
Secondary Lymphoedema can occur after surgical interventions for example surgery for cancer or radiation therapy, general surgical operations, trauma such as accidents, from infection such as cellulitis or in some continents parasitic activity.

Lymphoedema and Lipodema are medical conditions that require a specific treatment protocol and as such require a confirmation of a medical diagnose before any form of treatment can begin.

Heavy and unusual physical work can cause sore muscles and a heavy feeling in the lower back, neck, arms and even legs. We are pleased to announce that we are running courses of six Pilates classes at swissphysio on Thursdays starting on Thursday 24th April. Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on the “core “or postural muscles. The slow and controlled movements help to strengthen the muscles which support the spine, which in turn keep the body balanced. Carried out correctly, Pilates can help to relieve back pain and improve abdominal muscle strength.
