swissphysio is the well established physiotherapy clinic at Tynemouth Metro Station.

Opened in April 2003 swissphysio can rely on a long and renowned experience of internationally trained and state registered, chartered physiotherapists.

swissphysio is member of the Organization of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice and is recognised by BUPA and all major health insurance companies.

With over 17 years experience in the treatment of neuro-musculo-skeletal problems swissphysio is proud of its fast results.

The swissphysio team believes in a "hands on" approach combined with personalised therapeutic exercises. These are based on a careful and detailed assessment and supported by state of the art equipment such as electrotherapy, hot and cold packs, rehabilitation equipment, weights and gymnastic balls.

The treatments aimed to help patients to go back to their activities in the shortest possible time. Most importantly, patients learn how to manage their own body in order to avoid future relapses.

Our physiotherapists always clearly explain their client’s condition to them and how the treatment will be developed. Understanding the problem and working as a team leads to a speedy recovery.

What most people don’t know is that a dysfunction of the TMJ, whatever the cause, can be the origin of many aches and pains in the neck, face and head.

Heavy and unusual physical work can cause sore muscles and a heavy feeling in the lower back, neck, arms and even legs. This feeling usually is more noticeable when we try to move after a period of rest and disappears when we start moving around and it is usually forgotten about after a couple of days.A hot bath and a massage will help to make you feel better and get ready for another hard day.

We are pleased to announce that we are running courses of six Pilates classes at swissphysio on Thursdays starting on Thursday 24th April. Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on the “core “or postural muscles. The slow and controlled movements help to strengthen the muscles which support the spine, which in turn keep the body balanced. Carried out correctly, Pilates can help to relieve back pain and improve abdominal muscle strength.
