Masai Barefoot Technology - Shoes & Training

MBT®, the revolutionary rehab tool, which is a built in fitness centre in a shoe! More than just a shoe, it is a device which enables the whole body to work more efficiently. MBT® shoes force you to balance correctly and to walk upright, meaning that your muscles are working as they should instead of overloading your joints.

Walking more upright not only looks better but automatically makes you healthier and stronger. Your back and joints are strengthened, circulation is increased and breathing is more efficient. MBT® shoes help lengthen and strengthen your whole body while standing, walking or gentle running.

Through a multi layered sole the MBT® shoe transforms flat, hard, artificial surfaces into natural, uneven ground. Wearing MBT® shoes is like walking in sand.

Unlike most conventional training shoes that only support and cushion your feet, the unique uplifting lever spring action of the MBT® sole challenges the core strengthening muscles to be more active. This reactive, more supportive muscle action creates good posture and increases shock absorption for all the joints, significantly reducing musculo-skeletal compression. Joint wear is reduced and with it pain

Some of the many benefits of MBT® shoes include:

  • muscle toning (legs, stomach, buttocks)
  • improved core stability
  • weight reduction, helps reduction of cellulite and varicose veins
  • improved posture

MBT® is also used for sport and fitness, beauty and general wellbeing and in the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of:

  • Back, hip and feet problems.
  • Joint, muscle, ligament and tendon injuries.
  • Therapy resistance.

News

What most people don’t know is that a dysfunction of the TMJ, whatever the cause, can be the origin of many aches and pains in the neck, face and head.

Heavy and unusual physical work can cause sore muscles and a heavy feeling in the lower back, neck, arms and even legs. This feeling usually is more noticeable when we try to move after a period of rest and disappears when we start moving around and it is usually forgotten about after a couple of days.A hot bath and a massage will help to make you feel better and get ready for another hard day.

We are pleased to announce that we are running courses of six Pilates classes at swissphysio on Thursdays starting on Thursday 24th April. Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on the “core “or postural muscles. The slow and controlled movements help to strengthen the muscles which support the spine, which in turn keep the body balanced. Carried out correctly, Pilates can help to relieve back pain and improve abdominal muscle strength.
