Fascial Therapy

Fascia

Fascia or Connective tissue is the support structure of the body.It connects every part of the body to every other part. It even forms the "scaffold" of cells. In effect if every oder parts of the body were removed leaving only the fascia behind, you would be left with a perfect outline of every cell and structure in the body.

Disfunction

Whenever there is an injury to the body (trauma, infection, stress) the fascia is affected. This causes to thighten and become less mobile. Do to the nature of life this is an ongoing process.

The body is normaly able to deal with these restrictions but unfortunately all too frequently it can no longer compensate. At this point musculoskeletal problem will show themselves eg neck & back problems, chronic sport injuries, pelvic pains. 90% of musculoskeletal problems have their origin in the fascial system.

Assesment and Treatment

The fascial assessment follows the normal musculoskeletal one with the fascial system being evaluated along the way. Once the main fascial restrictions have been identified treatment can be started. All restrection have a specific direction limitation. The treatment is directed towards gently encouraging the release of these limitations.

It takes generally less then 5 treatment sessions to see significant improvement.

Fascial treatment is often combined with other physiotherapy techniques to improve the recovery response. Fascial treatment often succeed when other treatments have failed because it deals with the underlying cause of the musculoskeletal problem.

All conditions can be suitably  treated using Fascial Techniques Methods but especially chronic conditions, old whiplashes and periodical pelvic pains showed a great response with rapid decrease of the symptoms.

Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on the “core “or postural muscles. The slow and controlled movements help to strengthen the muscles which support the spine, which in turn keep the body balanced. Carried out correctly, Pilates can help to relieve back pain and improve abdominal muscle strength.
