Rehabilitation on the Beach

These sessions take place at the King Edwards Beach in Tynemouth and are especially designed for people who have suffered sport injuries such as ligament and muscle tears and who plan to go back into competition.

The soft ground of the beach absorbs shock and at the same time develops more coordination and strength.

The exercises are chosen to replicate the movements and situations specific to the athlete’s discipline and aim to prepare him/her for a complete and successful return to competition.

Shower facilities after the sessions are available.

What most people don’t know is that a dysfunction of the TMJ, whatever the cause, can be the origin of many aches and pains in the neck, face and head.

Heavy and unusual physical work can cause sore muscles and a heavy feeling in the lower back, neck, arms and even legs. This feeling usually is more noticeable when we try to move after a period of rest and disappears when we start moving around and it is usually forgotten about after a couple of days.A hot bath and a massage will help to make you feel better and get ready for another hard day.

We are pleased to announce that we are running courses of six Pilates classes at swissphysio on Thursdays starting on Thursday 24th April. Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on the “core “or postural muscles. The slow and controlled movements help to strengthen the muscles which support the spine, which in turn keep the body balanced. Carried out correctly, Pilates can help to relieve back pain and improve abdominal muscle strength.
