Kinesio Tape effectively helps conditions varying from sprained ankles, whiplash, osteoarthritis, low back pain and back pain during pregnancy, postural problems, sinusitis, oedemas, constipation just to name only a few.

What is Kinesio Tape and how does it work?

KT is a special tape, which, unlike the normally used zinc tape, has the elasticity and thickness similar to that of the skin and therefore much better tolerated and the application can and should be left for up to 4 days.

Thanks to these quality and using different application techniques and tensions it is possible to effectively and quickly influence different structures:

-the micro circulation underneath the treated area helping in this way the reduction of old and fresh oedemas.

- reducing or increasing the tonus of the muscles, depending on the situation

- supporting the muscles even during intense activity without affecting     circulation or range of motion

- viscero- and myofascial correction, KT is an invaluable support to any fascia treatment. Since the tape will stay in place supplying a constant and gentle micro mobilisation of the underlying structures for different days.

- Scar treatment

- neural pain

Unlike some applications with zinc tape, Kinesio Tape doesn’t restrict a function but facilitate and support the healing process. KT can be used in combination with other strapping techniques like McConnell.

Kinesio Tape comes in skin and also very bright colours (following some basic rules of colour therapy). So don’t be surprised if you are going to leave the treatment room with some fancy …decorations.

If you see somebody walking around with these coloured tapes on their body you know that they probably have been treated at swissphysio.

What most people don’t know is that a dysfunction of the TMJ, whatever the cause, can be the origin of many aches and pains in the neck, face and head.

Heavy and unusual physical work can cause sore muscles and a heavy feeling in the lower back, neck, arms and even legs. This feeling usually is more noticeable when we try to move after a period of rest and disappears when we start moving around and it is usually forgotten about after a couple of days.A hot bath and a massage will help to make you feel better and get ready for another hard day.

We are pleased to announce that we are running courses of six Pilates classes at swissphysio on Thursdays starting on Thursday 24th April. Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on the “core “or postural muscles. The slow and controlled movements help to strengthen the muscles which support the spine, which in turn keep the body balanced. Carried out correctly, Pilates can help to relieve back pain and improve abdominal muscle strength.
